Ultrasonic level meter for tanks

A level meter that looks down at the liquid and never touches it. Transmitter, transducer and display are one field-mounted unit, in ranges from 5 to 20 m, with a flameproof housing version for fuels and solvents.

Outputs
RS485 Modbus RTU, 4-20 mA

What it does on a tank

Nothing in the liquid

The transducer sits above the surface, so there are no wetted electronics to foul or corrode. A PVDF or PTFE probe is available for corrosive vapour.

Level or distance

It reports the level of the liquid by default, or the distance to the surface, with automatic temperature compensation from an internal sensor.

Relays that act locally

Up to two programmable relays are available as an option, so a pump or an alarm switches at the tank without waiting for anything else.

A version for hazardous areas

A flameproof housing version is built for fuel, solvent and other classified areas. Certification documentation for your market and installation class is scoped per order.

Range and blind zone

The blind zone is the distance below the transducer in which it cannot measure. Mount the meter so the highest level stays below it.

RangeBlind zone
5 m0.3 m
10 m0.4 m
15 m0.6 m
20 m0.8 m

Where it gets specified

From the sensor to a record you can use

The sensor is a standard Modbus device. What it is connected to decides what the reading is worth.

On the same bus as the rest of the site

The RS485 output connects to a Genesis controller alongside every other Modbus sensor on the site. Each device has its own address, and each reading is filed against its own location.

Reported over cellular

The controller sends readings over 4G-LTE on battery, solar or a DC supply. Through an outage it holds them and sends them in order when the link returns.

A record, alerts and an API

Charts, threshold alerts to the right person, export to Excel, and a REST API for your own systems.

Or straight into your own controller

The output is standard Modbus RTU, so the sensor also reads into any PLC or controller that speaks it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the blind zone?

The distance below the transducer in which it cannot measure: 0.3 m on the 5 m range, rising to 0.8 m on the 20 m range. The meter is mounted so that the highest liquid level stays below it.

Can it be used on a fuel tank?

Use the flameproof housing version, which is built for fuels, solvents and other classified areas. Certification documentation for your market and installation class is scoped per order.

Does it measure powders and granules?

It is specified for liquids. Bulk solids in a silo are a different measurement and need a different instrument.

What power does it need?

24 VDC as standard, with 220 VAC as an option.
