Cold-chain

The IoT platform built for temperature, compliance, and audit.

A single temperature excursion on a pharma shipment compromises product and triggers regulatory consequences. A warehouse compressor failing unmonitored at 2am destroys a week of frozen inventory. OmnIoT brings every sensor into one audited cloud with real-time alerts and a branded customer portal.

Who this is for

Three kinds of cold-chain operators.

Pharma, food, and 3PL cold-chain share the same platform. Compliance depth and customer portal requirements differ.

Pharma and life sciences logistics

You move vaccines, biologics, diagnostic kits, or clinical samples under strict temperature control. A single excursion above threshold compromises product and triggers regulatory and commercial consequences. You need continuous temperature logging with signed audit trails and real-time alerts.

Food and beverage cold-chain

You operate cold storage, refrigerated transport, or chilled retail fleets. Temperature, humidity, and door-open events drive product shelf-life and compliance. You need monitoring that scales across warehouses, trucks, and store-level refrigeration without bespoke integration per site.

3PL and cold-chain operators

You provide cold-chain services for multiple brand customers and need branded customer portals showing each customer only their shipments and facilities. You need a multi-tenant platform you can rebrand, not a single-tenant dashboard that every customer sees the same way.

Sensors

Every cold-chain variable, one platform.

Modular hardware. Calibrated temperature probes, humidity, door events, shock, compressor telemetry, GPS. Every parameter that matters to audit or product quality.

Temperature loggers

PT100, PT1000, thermistor, and digital temperature sensors rated for cold-chain ranges (-80°C to +60°C). Calibrated to NIST or ISO 17025 standards where regulation requires.

Humidity and dew point

SHT30-class and industrial humidity transducers for pharma storage where RH matters for product integrity.

Door and shock sensors

Reed switches or magnetic door sensors on refrigerator and truck doors. Accelerometers to log transport shocks that may compromise product.

GPS and transport tracking

Cellular GPS for refrigerated trucks and containers. Route tracking, dwell time at loading docks, geofenced alerts for unexpected stops.

Compressor and refrigeration telemetry

Current, voltage, run-time, and pressure monitoring for refrigeration units. Predictive alerts before compressor failure becomes a product-loss event.

Backup power and mains status

Generator status, battery voltage, mains monitoring. Critical for cold storage facilities where power outages drive product loss.

Workflows

What your compliance, operations, and drivers actually do.

Sensor data is the input. Workflows are what makes it useful. OmniCloud ships with the workflows cold-chain operations need on day one.

Continuous logging with audit trail

Every sensor reading timestamped and signed. Immutable audit trail meeting FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and EU GDP requirements. PDF and CSV exports on demand for regulators and auditors.

Excursion alerts and escalation

Threshold alerts per asset, per product group, per route. Push, SMS, email, Telegram. Escalation if the first person does not acknowledge within the configured window.

Per-shipment dashboards

Live view of every refrigerated shipment: temperature curve, route, door events, arrival ETA. Customers see only their shipments in a multi-tenant branded view.

Mobile app for drivers and warehouse staff

Branded iOS and Android app. Pre-trip checks, temperature calibration workflows, door-open justification capture. Works offline in warehouse basements and in transit.

Compliance reporting

FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU GDP, HACCP reports generated from logged data. Signed PDF exports, CSV for auditor ingest, retention policies for 5+ years.

Multi-tenant customer portals

White-label tenant per end customer. Each tenant sees only their shipments, facilities, alerts. Per-tenant branding, domain, and user management.

Why OmnIoT

Multi-tenant cold-chain your customers see under your brand.

Cold-chain operators need two things most platforms do not deliver: immutable audit-quality logs for regulators, and a multi-tenant customer view so each of your end customers only sees their own assets. OmnIoT ships both as core platform capabilities, plus the calibrated sensors, cellular transport, and branded mobile apps you need on day one.

FAQ

Cold-chain-specific questions.

What cold-chain sensors does OmnIoT integrate with?

Any sensor with RS485 Modbus RTU, analog 0-10V or 4-20mA, or I2C output plugs in directly. For calibrated temperature logging we support PT100, PT1000, and ISO 17025-calibrated industrial probes. For transport we include GPS and cellular connectivity natively. Custom sensors can be added in an ODM engagement.

Does the platform meet FDA 21 CFR Part 11 or EU GDP requirements?

The platform architecture supports 21 CFR Part 11 and GDP-compliant operation: immutable timestamped logs, user authentication and access controls, signed PDF exports, retention policies, audit trails. Formal validation and compliance certification are part of ODM engagements for regulated customers; the platform does not ship pre-certified for every regulatory regime, but the primitives to get you certified are in place.

Is the platform production-grade?

Yes. OmniCloud runs in production across agriculture and aquaculture today. The multi-tenant architecture, immutable audit-quality logging, user authentication, and role-based access controls that cold-chain requires are core platform capabilities, production-hardened.

Can I run the platform for multiple customers under my own brand?

Yes. This is a core platform capability. Each end customer gets a tenant with your brand on a subdomain you control. Tenants are isolated at the data layer. Per-tenant user management, per-tenant pricing, per-tenant feature configuration.

What connectivity works in refrigerated trucks and containers?

Cellular (4G LTE Cat-M1/NB-IoT with 2G fallback) is the default. Satellite integration is possible in an ODM engagement for routes that cross dead zones (trans-Atlantic sea freight, remote mining-truck routes). Devices buffer through outages and sync when coverage returns.

How do battery-powered cold-chain devices behave at extreme temperatures?

Our reference hardware is rated to -40°C operating. Internal batteries deliver 12 to 24 months of logging at 5-minute sample rate in pharma cold storage (-80°C and -20°C environments reduce runtime but are supported). For long-duration transport we recommend mains-powered loggers tied to the vehicle's 12V/24V bus.

How quickly can a cold-chain pilot run?

Typical pilots run 8 to 14 weeks from kickoff to devices shipping. Regulatory-grade pilots (pharma, clinical) typically add 2 to 4 weeks for validation documentation. First pilot is typically one warehouse or a small fleet of refrigerated trucks before scaling.

What does a typical cold-chain engagement cost?

Quoted per scope. Pilot tier starts in the low five figures USD for hardware, integration, and NRE. Production scales to per-asset hardware costs plus a per-user or per-tenant SaaS fee. Regulated engagements (pharma) add validation costs proportional to the compliance scope.
